MUSE is the McGill library system's on-line catalogue.

Peruse allows you to look up articles from a variety of databases. When (and if) prompted for the login, type peruse, and for the password, type peruse again.

Then, it may ask you to type in whatever terminal emulation you're using. If it does, type in VT220. Lastly, type in your backspace character, and you're ready to start searching!

Shakespeare information will mostly be available on the MLA Index, the Humanities Index, Current Contents, and Reader's Guide Abstracts databases. If your topic is Shakespeare and Medicine, then search the Medline database. You can save your search results to a floppy disk, or have them emailed to you. Peruse is available only to members of the McGill community.

In the Library

The library has a version of the OED (Oxford English Dictionary)on CD-ROM in the reference section of McLennan. The OED is the most usefulEnglish dictionary for Shakespeare studies, because it provides definitionsthat would have been current in Shakespeare's day.

Another important source of information is the Shakespeare LibraryGuide (by the McLennan Library's David McKnight), which is availablein hardcopy at the library. It is transcribed in full here for your convenience:
